Mod8, founded in Bordeaux in 1936 by Marcel Maudouit, designs beautiful children's shoes that respect the morphology of a child's foot. In 1956, the company took off and a second production site was built. The current factory in Blanquefort, France, was built in 1962. With over 1500 distributors worldwide, Mod8 has become a benchmark for top-of-the-range children's shoes. It was taken over in 1992 by the holding company SAR, the leading French group in the children's shoe market and third in the European rankings and now owner of the Mod8 and Aster brands. The first boutiques dedicated to the Mod8 brand were opened in 1994. In 2000, Mod8 rejuvenated its image, adopting a new visual identity, and a new store concept was officially launched in 2002. Today, Mod8 has 10 specialist children's shoe shops in operation.
