It is cold outside a little less than 20 degrees and Tobi's heading towards the warmth of the house. We had about four to six inches of snow the other day. I haven't left the house in over a week. I created a facebook account for Toby. Can you say cabin fever?Well either that or a little crazy has settle in. I have not posted in such a long time I thought I should bring everyone up to date.
I am writing a KNOL (unit of knowledge for the internet). I am really excited about this and I need to send a shout out to my dear friend Deb. She was my very first jewelry making friend who I met in a jewelry class years ago. She lives in sunny San Diego and we still keep in touch from time to time. Now what does that have to do with my KNOL, well a lot. Deb was the first person to introduce me to the "tin cup necklace" and then helped me learn how to make one for myself. For those of you that don't know what a "tin cup necklace" is well it is a necklace that is strung on silk and knotted with space between the beads. You can see Rene Russo wearing one in the movie "Tin Cup."
Deb starting making them and her designs are very beautiful. Years ago before I left SD, I purchased one from her of red coral and turquoise which my mom refuses to give back to me because she loves it. Thank God we live in the same house or I would never see it. Well, from all that I started making Tin Cups and knotting pearls. Now several years later and countless strands later, I am writing an online tutorial that includes pictures, text and even video on how to string pearls.
The KNOL is still a work in progress and I will be sure to let you know when and where you can view it for yourself.
The strand at the top I just finished today. It was a small job I did for a friend's mother and I think it tuned out pretty good. The picture is a little fuzzy. I guess I am a little rusty with my digital camera these days.
Any hoo, I miss you Deb and I send tons of love your way!
